How To Use This Site

Accessing information on health and human services providers in Howard County, Maryland is easy. On any page of this site, you will see the 'Click Here to Find Resources' button. This link is your gateway to services in the Community.

The database was designed to be searched either by keyword, by category, or by the name of an organization. After clicking on the 'Click Here to Find Resources' button, you'll be directed through a series of 'steps' to narrow down your search criteria and either print, save or email your results. You can click on any of the 'steps' along the top of your screen to refine your search criteria at that particular junction. You can always return to this section of the web site by clicking on 'Back to HorizonHelp' on the top of any page.

You have the option of signing into the system before you search, or not signing in at all. Advantages of registering with the system include the ability to receive private responses to questions you pose from participating providers, as well as the ability to save your search results. Your privacy is guaranteed when you register. Although personal information is asked in the registration process, it is used to assign you an identification number, not track you by name. All of the data entered into the system is encrypted. Your date of birth is asked as part of this encryption process. The ONLY way your privacy could be compromised on the system is by exiting without logging off first. Any subsequent users on your computer would then be able to contact providers using your system identification number. Privacy is not compromised if you shut down your computer after using the system.
